Hello Dark Clouds,

As you may know, leadership for the Dark Clouds, Red Loons, and True North Elite met with Minnesota United’s CEO, COO and Field Manager before last weekend’s match against Houston. We asked MNUFC to require either proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test for entry to Allianz Field.

The team remains opposed to such a policy – citing concern for ticket sales, fear of alienating those opposed to the vaccine, and even expressing some direct skepticism that a test/vaccine check would slow the spread of COVID.

We love supporting our Loons, and remember clearly how much we missed bringing that support in person. But we can’t ignore the growing COVID cases in our area, and it’s long past time for MNUFC to prioritize the health and safety of its workers, its dedicated volunteers, and its supporters.

To convince MNUFC to adopt a test/vaccine check, the Dark Clouds and Red Loons are taking the following steps, effective immediately:

  1. Our capos will not return to the stands this season until MNUFC adopts a test/vaccine check.
  2. Members who want to skip home matches until MNUFC adopts a test/vaccine check are encouraged to do so and organize watch parties instead (at home or at venues where vaccines/negative tests are required). We also encourage anyone with season tickets who can afford not to resell their tickets to do so. An empty stadium will make a very strong point.
  3. Finally, we encourage you to contact your ticket rep or the team’s front office (info@mnufc.com) and voice your support for this policy. If you can, please also reach out to 2-3 other supporters you know and ask them to do the same. You can use this form email or feel free to craft a message in your own words. (Mass emails from supporters were instrumental in the Timbers Army’s successful push to require a test/vaccine check at Providence Park.)

We hope that by taking these clear steps together we can convince MNUFC to adopt a test/vaccine check and keep its workers, volunteers, and supporters safe.

If you have questions, concerns, or idea, please reply to this email or reach out on social media.
