SL Volunteers, HI staff and Tony Sanneh.

In partnership with the Sanneh Foundation, we’re organizing a service trip to Haiti to take part in the Haitian Initiative (HI) program from January 21-28, 2018. Participants will have the opportunity to work in the school there while experiencing the culture of Haiti.

We’ll be hosting several information meetings leading up to the event where you can ask questions, learn more, and sign up for the trip. Our first information meeting will be August 22 at Lake Monster Brewing, and we’ll have another on September 7 at Town Hall Brewing. Both meetings will run from 7:30pm to 8:30pm.

This is the second time the Dark Clouds will be heading to Haiti to do service. Click here to read about our 2017 trip which will give you an idea of what you will get to experience.

We’ll be there to support HI activities in the community, including teaching English, assisting in feeding center, distributing soccer equipment to youth, spending time with children in HI the building, playing and coaching soccer with HI participants, and assisting with medical testing and support. While helping out, attendees will stay at the HI guest house, visit the Haitian National Museum and have the opportunity to take part in cultural excursions to the beach, Port-au-Prince, and more.

The base cost of the trip is $800 plus airfare. A trip deposit of $125 is required to reserve space on the trip and is applied toward the base cost. This deposit is non-refundable. The $800 covers the following:
Lodging in a local guesthouse, including modern utilities
Experienced guide while you are in Haiti
Breakfast and dinner during your time in Haiti
Ground transportation to all activities
Translators and Haitian guides to enhance the full experience of visiting Haiti.

All contributions, including airfare, are tax deductible.

Please visit the HI page to read about the program and see some of the sights from previous trips.
