Update: If you are emerging, Leto-like, from the wilderness and have missed the last few weeks of news, let us get you up to speed: there is a pandemic going on and no one should be leaving their place of residence unless absolutely necessary, meaning this event has been canceled.

So, while the bees still need our help and, actually, spending an afternoon picking up trash along the Mississippi seems like a great idea as long as no other people are around, there will not be a Dark Clouds event to help the 5K Bee Run.

Bee part of the Dark Clouds Silver Lining Volunteer team to support the Great River Coalition in the 2020 Earth Day 5K Bee Run/Walk and River Cleanup! This is a pollinator awareness event in partnership with the National Park Service and the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board.

This is a buddy system event: Groups of two or three are positioned at various locations around the course to cheer and direct runners and walkers, as well as pick up around the mighty Mississippi River. It’s a great way to meet other Dark Clouds while supporting the critical pollinators!

Afterwards, join us for a post-event party at La Doña Cervecería for further friendship and camaraderie.

Take a look at the fun we’ve had in past years here — 2019, 2018, 2017 — then hit the sign-up link below to join this year’s squad.

So to be clear: Yes to cheering on runners, yes to cleaning up the river, yes to supporting pollinators, no to actually having to run yourself, no to pollinating anything. You can do those last two on your own time.
